Course objectives
The lecture is focused on aproaches used in syntactic analysis, on types and modalities in simple sentences, on types of paragraphs and the position of sentences. Sentence elements, importance and posotion in the sentence. Problems of word order and the analysis of speech.
Syllabus
  • Analysis of the following terms: "phrase", "énoncé", "énonciation".
  • Processes used in syntactic analysis – substitution, commutation.
  • Independent clause: types and modality.
  • Compound sentences – according to clause position - juxtaposition, coordinating, subordinate, correlative.
  • Clause structure - "groupe nominal", "groupe verbal".
  • The issue of French word order - inversion, dislocation, "détachement", "mise en relief".
  • Analysis and typology of utterances (direct, indirect and semi-direct speech).
  • Functional sentence perspective.
