- An overview of contemporary developments and trends in spoken French, introduction to sociolinguistics and social dialectology – slang, argot -- with emphasis placed on generationally and socially conditioned sociolects.

- Seminar attendance is mandatory. Colloquium – two group seminar papers - a) translation and sociolectal analysis of selected rap lyrics, b) subtitling a selected film segment.
