Course objectives
The seminar is oriented also to the general semantic problems as is the definition and explanation of the general terms (semantic, semiology, semiotic, onomaziology, semaziolgy, sign: significant, signifié, o the semantic we explain the definition of the semantic terms /semantic, semiology, onomaziology, semaziology, signs – signifiant and signifié, signification, denotatum, predication, argument, intension and extension/. In the synchronic part there are illustrated various of the lexical-semantic transcription. Marginally some other problems will be mentioned – vagness of the meaning, strictness of the meanings, stereotypes, polyssemic meanings, idiomatic phrases, onomatopoeic words /attributive and non attributive character of the signs. lexically and we describe different theories and classification of the semantic changes from the diachronic and also synchronic aspect. We analyze different categories of the semantic-lexical description (synonymous, antonymous, polysemic and homonymic relation between the words).

Assessment methods
Written test with a minimum success of 75%.Participation in the seminar is not mandatory. During the seminar a regular preparation es mandatory. On of the part of the seminar is formed alos by a work with dictionaries, with authentic materials of spoken and written european portuguese language, elaboration of grammar exercices.
