Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain these items:; the German phonetics and phonology; classification of the parts of speech in German (according to semantic, morphological and syntactic aspects); the basis of the morphology; the basis of the word formation; the basis of the lexicology and semantics; the theory of the text (discource) and textual analysis; pragmatics in the linguistics.

  • german phonetics and phonology
  • parts of speech
  • morphology: lexical and gramatical morphemes, inflection
  • word formation: basic morphemes, word formation morphemes, affixes, compound, agglutination, conversion, types of abbriviations
  • syntax: theory of syntax and syntactic decomposition, phrases (parts of the sentence), verb valence, sentence, simple sentence, sentence patterns, compound sentence, complex sentence
  • lexicology ans semantics: sem, semems, meaning, denotation, connotation homonymy, antonymy, paronymy, prototype theory
  • theory of the text (discource), coherence, cohesion, deictic, anaphoric and cataphoric elements, presupposition
  • pragmatics, speech act, illocutionary act, locutionary act, perllocutionary act, indirect speech acts, J.L. Austin, J.L. Searle.
