Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide basic orientation in both theoretical and practical problems of gregorianic and to create the qualification for analytical and critical work with liturgical sources.
Syllabus
  • The subject of the course is made up by the following thematic spheres: 1) Historical problems of the Gregorian Chant. 2) Repertory of the Gregorian Chant. 3) Gregorian Chant and the Liturgy. 4) Liturgical books as musical sources. 5) Gregorian Chant and the problems of his interpretation. 6) Gregorian Chant in the theory and practice of the European musical thinking. Teaching methods
Class (1,5 hours per week); within the class a combination of teacher-led activities and student-centered/group learning activities will be employed.
Assessment methods
The course is ended by a credential interview, success of which is based on: 1) Reliable knowledge of historical development and theoretical problems of Gregorian Chant given by the syllabus and lectures. 2) Reliable elaboration of the given seminar task.
