Course objectives
After finishing the course students:
Understand the issues concerning documents from the historical point of view and in cultural context.
Are familiar with caracteristics of documents.
Are familiar with the basic rules of work with information resources , for the purpose of creating scholarly texts.
Syllabus
  • Rules of work with documents, for the purpose of creating scholarly texts.
  • Encyclopaedism , its aim and implementation, from antiquity to the present day.
  • Encyclopaedias, mostly the Czech ones.
  • Some of the leading Czech publishing houses.
  • Briefly on the history of the book, some terms from descriptive bibliography.
  • Principles of editing texts.
  • In seminar lessons, the knowledge acquired in lectures will be applied in the writing of seminar papers.
