- Course objectives
- The aim goal of this course is to introduce most common methods of knowledge organization within digital environment. The course is lectured by professir Nils Pharo (Oslo and Akershus University College) https://www.linkedin.com/in/nilspharo
- Syllabus
- Lecture 1 Digital libraries and metadata interoperability In the lecture we will discuss indexing of digital collections, with an emphasis on digital libraries. The challenge of metadata interoperability is addressed as well as potential ways for solving interoperability problems.
- Lecture 2 Linked open data and the semantic web In the lecture we introduce the semantic web and the idea of linked open data. Ontologies and ontology modelling and how it relates to indexing is discussed
- Lecture 3 RDF, Topic Maps and ontology modelling In the lecture we will look at two languages for ontology modelling, RDF/S and Topic Maps. RDF schema will be used for modelling a simple ontology.

- Cource takes place from 18th November til 20th November 2014. Lecture will last 5 hours each day.
