Course objectives
The course goal is an active conversation and strengthening of language and communication skills. The compulsory course covers at least six semesters of study with intention to reach language proficiency on B1 level in both spoken and written communication. The content and exercises of each semester are related to parallel lectures from phonetics and phonology, lexicology, grammar and syntax. The course Vietnamese conversation 4 is a profile core course of the study programme Vietnamese Studies. Content of this course and acquired knowledge will be also a part of the Final State Examination.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- identify and use all types on Vietnamese noun phrases
- analyse basic structure and parts of Vietnamese sentences
- know and use basic Vietnamese terminology in the fields of grammar, syntax and sentence structure
- communicate about following topics: housing, social networks, shopping, trade items, traditional Vietnamese food, cities and towns of Vietnam, Vietnamese religion, migration.

  • Basic Vietnamese terminology of grammar, syntax and sentence structure
  • Exercises of noun-phrases and sentence patterns
  • Conversation and practical use of vocabulary related to following topics: housing, social networks, shopping, trade items, traditional Vietnamese food, cities and towns of Vietnam, Vietnamese religion, migration.

Explanations, exercises, conversation.
Assessment methods
Written brief tests at the beginning of every lecture - 50 % of correct answers from all brief tests (including tests from missed classes) is needed to pass for final examination. Then at least 80 % of correct answers from final written + oral examination is needed to pass the course. Note: in the case of at least 75 % of correct answers from all written brief tests, then only the oral part of final examination is needed to pass the course.
