Course objectives
At the end of the course the students will have basic familiarity with English for specific purposes in the field of international sale contracts. The students will be able: to describe the main parts of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods; to explain the content of ICC International Sale Contract; to negotiate simple contractual terms and draft the results of negotiation into a clause; to compare the work and responsibilities of commercial agents and distrubutors; to present their knowledge orally; to write a memorandum.

Assessment methods
The course is ended by examination which consists of two parts: written test and oral examination. To sit for the test the students are required to work actively in the seminars and to hand in a language portfolio (pre-session and after-session tasks) in electronic form. Written test: 90 minutes - listening - reading comprehension - language-focus and grammar (translation in the context, sentence transformation) - writing (letter/email/memorandum) Oral Part: - explaining terms and discussion related to a given topic: International Trade Organizations, Export and Import Transactions, INCOTERMS, International Payment Mechanisms, Commercial Contract Structure, The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, International Sale Contracts, Agency and Distributorship Contracts
