To be admitted to the German for Lawyers exam, the students are required to have completed a 4 semester course and acquired three credits. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students will be able to use indirect speech in German legalese. They will be able to talk about issues of European and International law(e. g. European Union, UNHCR, United Nations, The European Convention on Human Rights). At the end of the course, students will be able to use clear and precise language in order to discuss specific topics.

- Topics for reading comprehension, assisted discussion and terminology 1. Indirect speech in German legalese 2. The European Union - founding, the sources of EU law 3. The European Union - EU bodies, the Treaty of Maastricht, the Treaty of Amsterdam 4. The European Union - domestic market: free movement, free circulation of goods, services and capital 5. The European Union - economic and monetary union 6. The Council of Europe 7. The United Nations 8. Asylum procedure, migration in Germany,forms of asylum, the Geneva Convention 9. The act on residence of aliens - the forms of residence permit 10.UNHCR - introduction to UNHCR 11.The European Convention on Human Rights 12.Final course Requirements for the exam in German for Lawyers I Written part: 60 minutes a) controlled cloze test b) reading: multiple choice test c) transformation of a technical text in German by changing grammatical and stylistic items so that the original meaning stays the same Oral part: a) assisted reproduction according to the topics given below b) terminology in the extent of 4 terms subject matter c) conversation on a given topic Topics for the controlled reproduction 1. - Interaktivní jazykový seminář, analýza odborných textů, porozumění psanému, poslech s porozuměním, samostatný mluvený projev
- Assessment methods
- The course is taught in the form of seminars. At the end of the seminar students are required to take a test before the written part of the exam! The test checks the acquisition of terminology,grammar and knowledge of the subject. Systematic work with e-learning programme will be rewarded by a bonus of 1 up to 3 points. The exam consists of a written and oral part. Students have to pass the written part before they are allowed to take the oral part.
