Course objectives
Purpose of the course is understanding legal framework and related economic aspects of the EU single currency (the Euro) and accompanying measures of the Economic and Monetary Union, including subsequent changes caused by the debt and monetary crisis as a phenomenon unifying and splitting the European Union.
Learning outcomes
A graduate shall be capable to explain legal framework and - on basic level - economic aspects of the single currency and of the Economic and Monetary Union.
Syllabus
  • (1) currency as phenomenon and its regulation,
  • (2) the road to the Euro, criteria of its introduction,
  • (3) the single currency, its management,
  • (4) actual debt crisis and potential monetary crisis,
  • (5) measures alleviating it,
  • (6) and hypothetical disintegration.
Teaching methods
1 lecture, 1 seminar.
Assessment methods
Preparing analysis addressing a particular aspect and its discussion.
