Course objectives
The course aims to introduce students to the methodology of legal thinking in the context of their dissertation. The course will focus on doctrinal, empirical or critical approaches depending on the specific focus of the dissertation.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: - identify the specific focus of the dissertation; - identify and describe the position of the dissertation methodology in context; - apply individual methodological concepts to the dissertation.
Syllabus
  • The course does not have a classical curriculum. It aims to introduce the methodology of theoretical legal sciences in the context of a specific dissertation. Although its parts are oriented generally towards theoretical legal science, relevant sources, doctrinal methods, empirical methodology and critical legal methodology, the particular content will correspond to the dissertation's focus.

The evaluation will be awarded after presenting a concrete idea of the methodological concept of the dissertation.
