Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit the aim of the course is to prepare students for an internship abroad, scientific research and publication cooperation with foreign countries, processing acquired knowledge for the dissertation and overall orientation in the selected geographical area. With regard to the topic of his / her dissertation, language disposition and other interests, student chooses the area especially for the comparative research. Student looks for the possibilities for realization of the research mobility. Student creates a strategic plan for internships, workshops, conferences, information gathering, networking, etc.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- understand the importance of the comparative method for solving the dissertation;
- to choose the state (s), professional workplaces and systematically focus on future cooperation;
- work with the primary sources of the selected area and, if necessary, choose further language training;
- compare the material and formal sources of law;
- to monitor the impact of cultural, religious, political and economic elements on the field of thesis;
- to prepare, together with his / her supervisor, a plan of area studies, and to implement it.

  • - General introduction to comparative studies;
  • - Large legal systems;
  • - Material sources of legal regulation in the area of thesis;
  • - Economic systems depending on the topic ot thesis;
  • - Working with foreign language sources;
  • - Ethics and etiquette on internship abroad;
  • - Participation in an international seminar or conference;
  • - Area selection strategy;
  • - Possibilities of financing the realization of area studies;
  • - Individual language training;
  • - Locating destinations using the results of mobility support projects;
  • - Creation and defense of the plan of area studies.

Teaching methods
The basic teaching method is individual consultations, both with the supervisor and with other staff of the departments and experts working in the field of the dissertation.
Assessment methods
The evaluation is commissioned by the supervisor on the basis of the fulfillment of the pre-agreed content set out in the individual study plan and especially the area study project.

After enrolling in the course, the student immediately contacts his / her supervisor and proposes the content of the individual study plan in relation to the course, the content of the dissertation and the considered study internship.
