Course objectives
The subject aims at describing the development of the basic legal institutes of private law in individual private law areas. Understanding the development of the concept of private law. Distinguishing and defining the transition from the medieval particularism to the modern unitarism. Identifying the influence of Roman law and the canon law on the Czech private law.
Syllabus
  • 1. Some institutes of Roman private law and reception of Roman law. 2. The theory of separate ownership, title, possession. 3. Feoff, easements, land rights, lien, rights of succession. 4. The gradual overcoming of legal particularism and codifications of the Enlightenment. 5. The General Civil Code and other codifications of private law until the mid-20 th century. 6. The development of family law and marriage law. 7. The development of commercial law and law of bills of eschange. 8. The development of labour law.

Assessment methods
The teaching of this compulsory optional subject takes place in the form of optional lectures in the 3 nd semester and is ended by a colloquium. For the successful passing of the colloquium it is necessary to attend lectures to a certain extent and to pass 2 written tests during the semester.
