To be admitted to the German for Lawyers exam, the students are required to have completed a 2 semester course and acquired 2 credits.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to expose the students to various types of authentic legal texts - both written and oral.
Syllabus
  • Reguirements for the exam in German for Lawyers II Written part: work on a piece of unknown specialized text with a dictionary a) reading comprehension questions b) translation of a part of the text into Czech, 5-8 lines c) reconstruction of an original specialized German text by substituting grammatical and stylistic items Oral part: a) assisted reproduction according to the topics given below b) terminology in the extent of 2 terms subject matter c) conversation on a given topic Topics for the controlled reproduction 1. State law and constitutional law a) Basic principles of democracy, its historical development and forms b) Fundamental rights - the rights of citizens, human rights, the right to liberty c) State authorities of Germany d) Legislative process 2. Administrative law - public service, principles, bodies 3. Employment law a) Employer and employee - worker getting a given hourly pay, employee getting a given monthly salary b) Contract of employment, contract of employment with a probationary period, fixed-term contract of employment 4. Civil law a) Subject of law and law of subjects, natural and artificial persons (legal entities), legal title to rights and duties, legal capacity b) Law of succession - testament and legal heirs c) Family law - marriage, divorce Topics for conversation 1.
