Course objectives
The course provides students with a cross-sectional overview of legal remedies for consumer protection. The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge and ability to orientate in legal instruments arising from Community law and national consumer protection legislation. In particular, legal means of consumer health protection, including liability consequences, are examined. After completing the course, the student should be able to use the information obtained in application practice.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student should be able to enumerate and describe the legal means to protect consumers under Community law and the applicable legislation in the Czech Republic. Student will be able to explain the liability consequences of unlawful conduct, in particular in the field of public legal regulation and apply this knowledge into practice.

  • Sociological aspects of consumer protection.
  • Public protection of the interests and health of consumers.
  • Criminal aspects of consumer protection.
  • Selected issues of private law protection of interests and health of consumers.
  • Consumer protection and food safety.
  • Hygiene requirements and limits and consumer health protection.
  • Consumer protection against unfair commercial practices.
