Cíle předmětu
At the end of the course, the students should:
be able to identify the scope of regulation within consumer of law, particularly in relation to the rights and obligations of subjects of consumer law and the competencies of addressees of provisions within the consumer law;
have knowledge of international and European standards within consumer law;
be able to identify relevant legal provisions, interprete them and come to conclusions concerning acceptable or mandatory actions to be taken;
when organizing their work, they should be able to investigate academic writings and data bases of judgments, decisions and sources of law;
conveys their opinions;
analyse social events and phenomena while assessing individual and common interests of the involved parties;
be able to perform various functions during their implementation;
outline differences among legal regulations of relevant countries in relation to consumer law

Výukové metody
Oral presentation (Students present the informations they gatherded during their own research about the protection of consumer’s rights in different legal systems. Students present orally the solutions of problems posted by the teacher). Work In group (Students negotiate – acting as parties’ lawyers – different issues of consumer protection on the basis of a given case. They also discuss the solutions of problems posted by the teacher). Discussion in class (Students are divided into groups. They discus the issues and cases given by the teacher on the basis of EU law and their own legal system. They solve the cases and give oral presentations. They prepare claims, write complaints and perform the consumer “moot court”). Written presentation (Students prepare different legal wrtitings and formulars from the spheres of consumer law).

During the classes students get knowledge on different aspects of consumer law. As the course is addressed to students from various countries, the programme focuses on EU consumer directives. Students analyze the scope of these acts, CJ of EU judgements in this area and finally solve cases. The main target of these classes is to analyze consumer law in wide cross-border transaction’s perspective, solve transnational cases with consumers, compare the legal solutions and the outcomes of EU unification.
