Course objectives (in Czech)
The purpose of this course is to prepare students in general for participation at court trials simulations (moot courts) as well as for their future legal practice. The emphasis will be put on the ability of interpretation of legal norms and argumentation. This course specifically prepares the students for participation at Jewish Law Moot Court, whose main organizer is Universität Wien (dr. Stefan Wendehorst).
Learning outcomes (in Czech)
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to: - accept instructions, read the competition case and understand the assignment, including the clearly stated terms and conditions of the competition; - identify the key legal issues in the assignment and translate them into a mind map or other visualisation of the interrelationships; - conduct a literature and case law search on the key legal issues in the assignment; - formulate legal arguments orally and participate in an oral round of the competition to demonstrate both individual and group skills; - reflect on their participation in the competition, formulate conclusions, reflect on the skills learned and continue to work on them in future courses or competitions.

  • The course does not have a predetermined syllabus; students follow the instructions and the competition schedule under the guidance of coaches from the doctoral and master's degree programmes and under the supervision of the course supervisor.

Teaching methods (in Czech)
Moot court. The method of work in this course is highly individualized, students have a team task which they perform under the guidance of master or doctoral students and under the supervision of the course supervisor. The emphasis is on individual work (research), teamwork (argumentation) and a responsible approach to the competition itself.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Credits will be granted to those students who participate in full extent of the competition, sc. since the opening week to the finals (should the finals be postponed to a later date due to the current security situation due to the time availability of colleagues from the participating Israeli universities, the preparation of documents for the final participation is sufficient to formally complete the course).
