Course objectives
The aim of this course is to introduce Czech students to the basics of English Criminal Law. The nature of the common law tradition, where case law and legislation intertwine, will be examined, as will a range of decided cases.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to criminal liability 2. The burden of proof 3. Classification of criminal offences and procedural issues 4. Criminal appeals 5. The elements of criminal liability (actus reus, mens rea and an introduction to defences) 6. Unlawful homicide 7. Sentencing
