Syllabus
  • Introduction 1. Survey of Czech intellectual property law Copyright law 2. Basic notions (authors work, authorship, personal rights, patrimonial rights) 3. Copyright contracts 4. Neighbouring rights I (rights of performers) 5. Neighbouring righs II (rights of procedures of phonograms, rights related to broadcasting) 6. International treaties in the field of copyright and neighbouring rights Industrial property 7. Survey of Czech law and international treaties concerning industrial property 8. Protection of inventions through patents, basic principles 9. Protection of inventions abroad and foreign inventions in the Czech Republic,international treaties relating to patents 10. Trademark protection 11. Geographical indications, appellations of origin 12. Activities of international organizations in the field of intellectual property (WIPO, WTO).
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Lectures are held for a minimum of 5 students. With smaller number of students attending the course, lectures are replaced with tutorials. Reading list will be given by the course co-ordinator at the fist lecture or tutorial. The examination has a written and an oral part. Examination - credit requirements: 1. Semester paper 2. Written test comprising Yes/No(True/False) or multiple choice questions 3. Discussion on the semester paper
