Course objectives
There is double purpose of this subject: 1. To provide students with specialized terminology and language of the ECJ judgments and to improve their language skills generally, 2. To provide students with some of the most important ECJ cases in the context of the whole ECJ case-law.
Syllabus
  • 1. ECJ and its function in the institutional system of the EC 2. Nature of ECJ judgements as quasi-precedents 3. Francovich case 4. Von Colson case 5. Tobacco Advertising case 6. Phil Collins case 7. Leclerc case 8. Ratti and Colpinghuis Nijmegen cases 9. Centrafarm case 10. Presentation of cases by students. Each seminar consists of two parts: - English language exercise - analysis of the judgement.
