Course objectives
Historical Environments will examine what we know and how we know about past environments. Papers in English will be used to consider perspectives and issues important to understanding how humans have interacted with nature. How and why natural resources influenced certain human societies and how and why humans impacted their environments will be the focus. Various technologies and land use trends will be compared and contrasted across example societies. The U.S., Sweden, Italy, and Czechia will be the main focus areas, with opportunities for other explorations.
