Cíle předmětu
This seminar will investigate how environmental communication processes like stakeholders meetings, environmental impact assessments, environmental education processes, environmental political debates can be facilitated. It will look into different possibilities of programming communication about environment, the "why"s and it will give students the chance to investigate and train their own facilitation skills.

- Participants know what facilitation is
- Participants understand the complexity of process dynamics
- Participants can programme simple environmental communication processes
- Participants know basic technical tools in facilitation
- Participants can facilitate in simple communication settings
Výstupy z učení
Student will be able to:
- understand the meaning and meaning of facilitation in the field of environmental negotiation, understand individual phases of facilitation negotiations and be able to apply them to specific situations;
- be able to recognize the manifestation and latent needs of the participants in the negotiation process and propose solutions to satisfy them so that they are in the least contradiction;
- apply individual techniques of facilitation process;
- be able to recognize where the facilitation process can be used with good results and where it is appropriate to replace it with another instrument;
- understand the difference in the phenomenological approach to negotiation and the interpretative approach to negotiation;

4 interactive participative full day sessions;
1 interactive exam
Metody hodnocení
Students are expected to attend all sessions, because facilitation is not something that can be learned from books, but only by interaction.
The methods used will be highly interactive and participative. The seminar blocks will not exist of lectures, but of interactive group work. Also, students need to count with intensive homework between the seminar sessions.
The complete seminar will take place in English.
The course will be examined orally on the basis of the work done during the blocks and background literature.

Teaching will be two blocks of two days Literature to be studied is described at great detail in the more concrete syllabus that can be found in Study Materials of IS Information System).

Ir. Jan Haverkamp is a free-lance facilitator and a member of the International Association of Facilitators. He studied biochemistry and nuclear physics at the University of Leiden, and has an academic engineering degree (MSc level) in environmental sciences, social and environmental psychology and communication psychology from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. He worked 10 years in the development of environmental NGOs in Eastern Germany, Czecho-Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine, Albania and Croatia before he emigrated to the Czech Republic in 1997. He was co-founder of the ZHABA facilitators collective and was one of those who introduced the art of facilitation in Central Europe in the early 1990s. He combines facilitation with his work as expert consultant nuclear energy and energy policy for Greenpeace. He now lives with his wife Agata in Gdańsk, Poland. He is 56 years old, has a 21 year old daughter in the Czech Republic and a 24 year old son in the Netherlands.
