Cíle předmětu
The aim of the course is to broaden students' knowledge of energy relations in Asia and make them familiar with latest trends in this field. During the course, energy policies of the main actors (China, Russia, India, Japan ...) will be introduced together with milestones that change current trends and contribute to the dynamic development of energy relations both within and outside the region. The course discusses the link between different energy security dimensions, such as the long-standing emphasis of states on the security of fossil fuel supplies over the environmental impact of existing policies, and the need to ensure energy security in synergy with economic growth and persisting energy poverty. From a theoretical point of view, the course works mainly with the "strategic approach" to energy security, which is used in selected lectures to analyse the energy policies of China, Russia and Japan.
Výstupy z učení
Students will get a comprehensive overview of the development of energy relations in Asia. They will be able to determine what factors make the energy policies of individual players, consolidate them or vice versa. Students will understand how relationships between the most important producers and consumers in the region are formed. They will be able to assess the impact of energy policies on regional development and their overlap to the global level. Students will be able to conduct expert discussions on given topics and present their own analysis of selected issues.
