- Course objectives
- The main objective of the course is to acquainte students with the examples of successful environmental enterprises. Students will study their business plans, everyday activities and problems, economic situation, and perspectives.
At the end of the course students should be able to:
understand and explain the development possibilites of environmentally oriented enterprises;
work with information on economic situation of a real enteprise;
make reasoned decisions about their own possible environmental economic activity. - Syllabus
- The following environmental enterprises will be visited during the course:;
- 1. The VERONICA Centre Hostětín:
- a passive house with educational and accomodation purposes. Fruit juice produce using local variates and traditional fruit varieties conservation programme.
- Traditional wooden fruit drying facility - local use of material for building, heating and drying. Contributing also to the development of social capital.
- Municipal biomass heating plant - local use of heating material, joint implementation project of reduction of the CO2 emmisions.
- Waste water treatment by reed beds - established in 1997, this environmentally friendly facility contributes substantially to the village development possibilities.
- 2. Pitín - small private enteprise, organic fruit orchards with the production of dried fruits.
