Course objectives
The course deals with the participation of the Czech Army in foreign-deployed missions. The main emphasis is put on the participation of the Czech army in peacekeeping or peace support operations of the UN, NATO and the EU.
At the end of the course, students should be able to understand the issue of foreign missions of the Czech Army in the international context; to draw up arguments as to why the Czech Republic sends out foreign missions, what is the importance of these missions, what are the attitudes towards them on the Czech political scene and among public; and last but not least to assess the perspective of a soldier on the performance of foreign missions of the Czech Army.
During the course, students get the opportunity to discuss the topics with participants of Czech foreign missions who will bring students closer to practical problems.
Students also have the possibility to confront their knowledge and imaginations with particular parts of the documentary cycle entitled the Czech mission that presents the action of the Czech Army in multinational operations.

Teaching methods
The course is taught as a combination of both lectures and seminars. Lectures are optional, seminars and debates with guests are mandatory. Lectures involve theoretical background, seminars involve presentations of students. Discussions with participants of foreign missions and the documentary cycle Czech mission serve to illustrate the practical aspects of the issues covered by the course. Readings serve to broaden and deepen the spectrum of knowledge students acquire during lectures.
Assessment methods
To pass the examination, students have to prepare a presentation (in the range of 10-20 minutes) and an essay (in the range of 5-7 pages) on a selected issue and complete a final written test. The test will include lectures, student presentations and mandatory readings. Presentations presented during seminars and essays will also be displayed in “Odevzdávárna” in the Information System (IS). It is possible to obtain a total of 100 points: up to 20 points for the presentation, up to 30 points for the essay and up to 50 points for the test. To pass the examination, it is to be achieved at least 60 points. The written test can be taken only after the presentation and the essay is submitted.
