Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows: to know basic information about the theory of the political system to learn main types of the democratic political system and to understand the differences between these types to learn informations about the USA (example of the presidential democracy), France (semi-presidential model), the UK, Italy and Germany (parliamentary model) and Switzerland (semi-direct democracy)

  • I. Theory od the political system II. Models of democracy and their comparison 1. Parlaamentary and Presidential democracy 2. Majoritarian/Westminster and Consotional/consensual democracy III. Model countries for the types of the democratic political systems 3. Parliamentary democracy 4. Presidential, semipresidentail and direct democracies

It is necessary to get at least 48 of maximum 60 points and at least 25 of maximum 46 points in the final written text. Classificated are: Seminar paper (maximum 10 points), control test (maximum 4 points) and final written test (maximum 48 points).
