Course objectives
As part of the subject, the student will become familiar with national and international providers of grant support, the specifics of individual grant schemes, and the process of preparing a project proposal, including the budget. They will become familiar with project terminology, the structure of project proposals and learn to navigate the tender documentation of grant calls. The student will be introduced to the administrative procedures for preparing and solving projects at MU (FSS). The student will gain practical experience in preparing his own proposal for a research project, for which he will receive feedback. After completing the course, the student will be able to navigate grant opportunities and providers' requirements and independently prepare a project application.

The project proposal prepared according to the tender documentation of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic and the instructions of the teachers prepared in ISEP
Syllabus
  • 1. Internal/national/international grant agencies, types and specifics of calls 2. How to prepare a project proposal - Czech Science Foundation (GA CR) - types of GA CR projects, tender documentation requirements, proposal structure, proposal evaluation, frequent comments from evaluators, tips and advice for preparing proposals. 3. Preparation of the GA CR project budget – budget items and how to plan, estimate and describe them. Publication costs and open access. Open Science. ISEP and GDPR. Assignment of independent preparation of the project proposal and its budget 4. Publishing activities from A-Z – scientist identifiers, selection of a suitable journal, evaluation of journals, publishing in open access mode, data stewardship, reporting of results to the national database RIV - FSS Central Library. ​5. Teaching is not in progress, preparation of project proposals according to instructions. 6. Procedure for preparing proposals at FSS - where to get information about calls, how project support works at MU/FSS, administrative procedure for preparing proposals at MU/FSS. Ethic committee. Gender in Research. Examples of good practice - successful grant solvers. 7. Evaluation of proposals - feedback from colleagues and teachers. Discussion, questions and answers, course evaluation.

Assessment methods
Students must submit the required project proposal on time and actively participate in seminars. Excuse is possible only in case of documented illness.
