Course objectives
The course objective is to present the basics of clinical psychology as an independent science discipline, studying the mental life on the health-disease continuum within biopsychosocial context. The course is focused on defining the framework of clinical psychology and health psychology, their basic paradigms, selected themes and concepts of these disciplines. The work and methods of clinical psychologist in various contexts will also be presented. The course is designed for students of psychology at bachelor degree.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, student will be able to:
- define the basic framework of clinical psychology and health psychology; - define the subject and the main concepts of these disciplines;
- to formulate the specifics of the work of a clinical psychologist; - identify key issues arising from the current needs of clinical psychology and health psychology.
Syllabus
  • What is clinical psychology and health psychology, what do they deal with? How do we imagine illness and health? What makes us sick and what keeps us healthy? Issues of the patient experiencing and possibilities of psychological care. Psychologist in healthcare. How and with whom a clinical psychologist works. Clinical psychodiagnostic methods.
