Cíle předmětu
The goal of this course is to introduce psychological theories related to sport psychology and their practical application. The course emphasizes practical work of a sport psychologist. The course will give you a basic knowledge necessary to evaluate, support and develop athletes’ mental skills.
Výstupy z učení
Student will be able to:
- identify the main reasons of athletes’ “failure” or “success” in stress situations;
- evaluate, support and develop athletes’ mental skills;
- support athletes and help them to develop their mental toughness;
- minimize repeated failure of athletes in stress situations.
Osnova
  • 1st meeting
  • Information about organization: tasks description, creation of teams for presentations, assigning topics
  • Introduction to sports psychology and main techniques of mental training
  • Exercises: goal setting, focus, self-talk
  • Discussion (with home preparation)
  • 2nd meeting
  • Discussion (with home preparation)
  • Exercises: breathing – relaxation, imagery, pregame preparation, work with emotions, confidence, activation
  • Specifics of working as a mental coach with an emphasis on sports psychology
  • Performance profile
  • 3rd meeting
  • Students’ group presentations
  • Importance of supervision, self-education in the area of mental coaching and sports psychology

Metody hodnocení
- Active participation in seminars: 15 points (5 points for each seminar);
- 2 written preparation for discussions: 25 points (12.5 points for each of the first two seminars);
- Group presentation: 30 points (0 – 30 points for presentation);
- Final exam: 30 points.

To pass the course, student need to:
- Attend at least 80% of the seminars;
- At least 1 point from each discussion;
- At least 6 points for each of the group discussions;
- At least 9 points from the final exam;
- Gain at least 60 points in total.
