- Course objectives
- This course presents an overview of cultural and social anthropological theories as they developed over the course of the past 150 years. We look at the social context of the emergence of new social scientific theories and also discuss the various typical ethnographic researches that were associated to the successive theoritical orientations. The format of the course is a combination of lectures and seminar work, which relies on the active participation and presentations of the students as well.

- Evaluation criteria: There is both a multiple-choice test/short essay questions exam (at the beginning of the third meeting) and a take-home longer essay writing at the end of the course.
