Course objectives
The course provides a survey of the history of social anthropological theory. It presents the main paradigms and representatives of anthropological thought. The course focus on evolutionism, functionalism, konfigurationism, symbolic anthropology, structuralism, and interpretative anthropology.
Learning outcomes
After passing the course the students will be able:
- to recognise and describe most important theoretical paradigms and periods in anthropological thinking;
- identify features of various theoretical orientations in anthropological texts;
- to write an essay analysing theoretical text/orientation in social anthropology;
