Course objectives
This course is for graduate students who plan to write an MA thesis. To receive a passing grade, students are expected attend consultations regularly and prepare work as assigned.
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to develop the theme and structure of a thesis by writing a preliminary thesis proposal
to find resources for research and writing
to locate appropriate bibliographic material
to develop a timetable for researching and writing the thesis
to support individual writing skills and address weaknesses

  • Introductory meeting focusing on specialisation agreeing a topic
  • Theoretical grounds and concepts
  • Methodology and writing strategy
  • The first chapter

Assessment methods
This course is continously checked according ac. 16.8. SZŘ MU. Course takes the form of individual consultations of students’ theses with their supervisors. It concludes with a credit granted by the supervisor upon the condition that the student submits their final thesis in time. The thesis needs to meet the terms set in the assignment and comply with formal requirements and standards in the respective field of research.
