This course provides introductory and background information from gender studies and thus is suitable for all social science students on BA level.

Course objectives
How are gender and sexuality dealt with in contemporary research and politics in the international context? Where do Czech research and politics stand in this context? What are the most pressing issues in the realm of gender equality that we face from a comparative perspective? Social scientists, as well as people working in state administration or topical NGOs, come to present and discuss their current research and activities in the field of gender and sexuality research, social work, education and policymaking.
Learning outcomes
Students will learn about current issues in contemporary Czech and selection of international research studies on gender and sexuality. They will gain comparative perspective, broader context, better understanding and insight into relevant issues and problems shaping gender and sexuality research and politics.
