Course objectives
The intent of this course is introduce the students to current demographic process, nwe theory of ageing, the development in social work with the elderly people a providing the social services for this target group in Czech Republic as well as another countries. Within the course are discussed the forms and kinds of the personal social services system and the mix of formal and institutional care of the elderly. Special attention is given to rezidential home and the aspect of care in this institution as well as to the potential of social home care services agency. Furthermore is discussed the possibillity of transformation process of the rezidential homes to other forms of services. At the end of this course, student should be able to: understand the demographical and historical context of social care for the elderly; uderstand the changing demands of providing the social services for this target group; analyze the specifics of providing the social services for the elderly; analyze the specifics of diferent types, forms and kinds of personal social services for the elderly; make reasoned decision about the planning social services for the elderly;
