Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge from the course Logotherapy and Existential analysis. The object gives an outline for work with the client in border existential situations. This situation will be illuminated through the media (film, theatre) and students ere encouradged to reflect their own attitudes and following this their possibility to work with such clients. At the end of this course, students should be able to: understand and have a outlook on sense of border existential themes by themselves and by the clients and be able to work or not work with them.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to the topic, motivations, expectations. 2. Border situation: Cnacer and death, film Witt, director M. Nichols. 3. Reflexion of the film, consideration about social work with the clients in terminal phase of cancer. 4. Border situation: Adolescence (movement Emo, Skindeads, Anarchists). 5. Border situation: Old age and our imagine about it (Tina Turner). 6. Border situation: Sexual disfunction, pedofilia. 7. Culture of poverty and their approach to the life. Possibilities of finding positive approach. Film Gypsies to the heaven. 8. Discussion about the film and preparation for qualified intervention. 9. Border situation: Mental illness. 10. Border situation: Death of children. 11. "Hero" of casual day - detection of being non-ordinary in ordinary. 12. "Ordinary client" and existentiality. 13. Goal group according to the choice of students. 14. Conclusion, feedback.
