Course objectives
The aim of the course is to (1) obtain information to differentiate between different types of minority groups, (2) understand the social aspects of minority issues, and (3) clarify the basic background of social work with members of minority groups. Increased attention is given to the relationship between the organized majority (nation-state) and minority groups, human rights, and minority rights. Completion of the course creates the prerequisites for enrolment in the follow-up course "Approaches to Social Work with Minorities".
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to assess possible problems in the area of the coexistence of members of minority groups with members of the majority in the Czech Republic.

The basis of the teaching is not frontal teaching (lecture by the teacher), but teacher-coordinated activities of students, the prerequisite of which is continuous reading of the required literature and partial tasks.
