Course objectives
Course list students with discourse of artistic critique in printed media. Course deal with characteristics of artistic communication, origin, functions, methods and genres of artistic critique and artistic critique in Czech printed media. Purposes of course is to apply these piece of knowledge in the field of critical practice. The important part of course is the analysis of critical production. At the end course, students will better comprehend critical production and should be able to write a review for particular printed media.

  • The origin of biblical, textual and artistic critique.
  • Personalities of world's artistic critique.
  • Personalities of Czech literary and artistic critique.
  • Types, methods and functions of artistic critique.
  • Social and cultural context of critical activities.
  • Artistic critique in Czech media.
  • Structure and building segments of review.
  • Analysis of reviews of contemporary significant Czech critic.
  • Valuation of critical production of course participants.
  • General valuation of course.
