Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the topic of journalism theory and journalism practices. The course is divided into three thematic blocks - introduction to journalism, news and journalism, media legislation and ethical standards. Main objectives can be summarized as follows: to understand and explain the basic rules for journalistic writing and genres (news and feature); to understand rountines in the newsrooms; to create news for different types of media; to gain overview about the Czech media landscape and its recent development; to interpret the basic theories of journalism; to work with information on media laws and ethical norms.
Learning outcomes
