Course objectives
The course aims to bring students of media studies and journalism a sociological (or more generally social-scientific) view of the role of communication and language, media and journalists in late modern society. The course's key topics are the reproduction of society, social identities, social inequalities through communication, the communicative nature of social behavior, and the relationship between the media, political action, and society and media audiences' transformation.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to reflect on the social nature of the media and a journalist's work. They will understand the role of the media in the reproduction of social inequalities.
