Výukové metody
The course is taught online on Zoom. It combines synchronous and asynchronous teaching. Students will have an opportunity to meet in person in Brno; the exact dates will be confirmed early in the term, for further details please see further in the syllabus. It is important that students attend the first meeting as organizational details will be decided, including the composition of groups in which students will work. Three other sessions will be held on Zoom, see sylabus for more info. Students are expected to work independently in small groups under the guidance of tutors - Barbora Vacková, Lenka Waschková Císařová from Masaryk University and Monika Metykova from University of Sussex. A range of learning resources will be available in the course’s virtual learning environments (IS at Masaryk University; Canvas at University of Sussex).
Metody hodnocení
Formative assessment: Group presentation that applies theoretical concepts to a local or national event or public display of remembrance and outlines the proposal for the project. For details of the assessment see below. Summative assessment: Creative group project that addresses a gap in public commemoration or offers an alternative to the dominant discourse. For details of the assessment see below. Please note: The course is not credit bearing for University of Sussex students, they will be issued a certificate of attendance. You will work on a creative informational/educational project in small mixed groups of Masaryk and Sussex students. The project is public facing and you need to select a target audience that is aged between 12 and 17 years. You may choose to focus on an example of commemoration discussed in a group presentation. You can choose a range of platforms for your informational/educational project that presents an alternative to dominant discourses about a public commemorative display or addresses a missing element/event or commemoration by an under-represented group. You can make a proposal for a commemorative display/event or holiday. Your project should have a local or national focus. You can choose to build a website using free website builders like wix.com or wordpress.com. Depending on your range of skills, you can prepare a photography/video/audio project or a poster. You should aim for about 3,000 words or their equivalent. Your tutors will be able to clarify the extent if you opt for a non-text based or mixed media project.
