Course objectives
Plant cell. Procaryotic and eucaryotic cells. The components of eucaryotic plant cell. Cell wall, structure, submicroscopical construction, chemical composition. Primary and secondary wall, middle lamella. Plasmodesmata. Simple and bordered pits. Protoplast, cytoplasm, plasma membrane, vacuolar membrane, microtubules, microfilaments. Endoplasmatic reticulum, ribosomes, Golgi bodies, dictyosomes, mitochondria. Plastids, morphological and chemical structure. Proplastids, leukoplasts, amyloplasts, chromoplasts. Chloroplasts, morphological and functional differences in C, C$_4$ plants. Nucleus, nuclear envelope. Nucleoplasm, chromatin, nucleolus. Microbodies, spherosomes, cytosol. Vacuoles. Ergastic substances. Crystals, fats and oils, starch grains, protein bodies. The effects of external factors on the cell components, tempereture, heavy metals, PAHs. Plant tissues. Meristematic tissue. Apical, cambial, intercalary and diffuse meristems. Epidermal, assimilation, absorption, mechanical and storage tissues. Vascular tissues.
