Syllabus
  • The situation of Chordates within the animal kingdom, problems of their origin and evolution. Morphology, development, habits and system of Urochordates and Cephalochordates. Classification, comparative morphology and phylogenesis of Vertebrates, major extinct groups. Recent Vertebrates: Cyclostomates (lampreys and hagfishes), Chondrichthyans, Osteichthyans, Amphibians, Reptiles (with remarks from the cladistic viewpoint), Aves, Mammals. Essentials of morphology, ecology, behaviour and system of recent groups and species. Domestic and laboratory animals.
