Syllabus
  • Basic techniques in molecular biology. Centrifugation techniques. Electrophoretic and electronmicroscopic methods for DNA analysis. In vitro manipulation with DNA. Enzymes in molecular biology. Isolation, identification and characterization of DNA fragments. Restriction analysis of DNA, physical mapping of genomes. DNA sequencing, genomic sequencing, analysis of DNA sequences. Hybridization techniques, preparation of hybridization probes. Principle of DNA cloning, cloning strategy. Main types of prokaryotic vectors. Gene and genomic libraries. Identification of recombinant DNA, recombinant DNA selection and screening. Expression in E. coli of cloned DNA molecules. Electrophoresis of proteins. Western blotting. Flow cytometry. Polymerase chain reaction. Transcription and translation in vitro.
