Course objectives
Preparation of recombinant DNA molecules for diagnostic purposes. Use of artificial gene transfer in the construction of DNA probes. Electrotransformation. DNA diagnosis of microorganisms. RNA diagnosis of microorganisms. Amplification techniques in molecular diagnosis. Identification of bacterial antibiotic resistence genes. Identification of genetically modificated microorganisms. Sequence analysis of some bacterial species. Reversed and classical genetics. Genetic analysis of bacteria, bacteriophages and plasmids. Use of transposons in genetic analysis. Use of genetic techniques in clinical diagnosis. Quantification of antimicrobial activity of compounds. Validation of laboratory microbiological methods.
