Course objectives
At the end of this course students are able to:
use basic as well as advanced fluorimetric and biochemical methods of photosynthesis measurement;
compare efficiency and applicability of biophysical and biochemical methods;
use appropriate statistical models and create suitable graphs for the presentation of the data.
Syllabus
  • LECTURES (theoretical background to Practical Training) 1) Modulated fluorometers and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters 2) Fast induction kinetics of chlorophyll fluorescence (O,I,D,P, Qa reducing/nonreducing PS II) 3) Slow (Kautsky) kinetics of Chl fluorescence with quenching parameters 4) Effect of stress factors on Chl fluorescence parameters 5) Photosynthesis in leaves of shade tolerants and heliophytic plants 6) Heterogeneity of photosynthesis at leaf level 7) Photosynthesis in aquatic ecosystems 8) Light-response curve of photosynthesis 9) CO2-response curve of photosynthesis 10) Temperature-response curve of photosynthesis 11) Daily courses of photosynthesis in sun and shade leaves 12) Effect of toxic compounds on photosynthesis 13) New directions in photosynthesis research (students colloquium)
