Course objectives
Lecture is concentrated on fundamental information related to pathological processes and effects of parasites on organism of host including survey of typical histopathological changes of tissues and organs due to parasitic infections.
Learning outcomes
It is expected that students will be able to examine histological sections and, on the basis of aquired knowledge of basic pathological processes, recognize tissue lesions, determine them, and deduce their supposed development. They will understand descriptions of lesions caused by parasites and will be able to prepare materials for histopathological examination in an appropriate manner.

  • Introduction to the subject, basic terminology and methods General pathology, postmortal changes in tissues and organs Bacis pathological processes, necrosis, dystrophy, atrophy, Process of inflammation, classification of inflammation, Developmental anomalies,tumors and its classification, Parasite-host interactions, pathogenesis caused by various agents (viruses, bacteria, parasites, toxins etc.) Special pathology: musculature systems, histopathology Special pathology: alimentary tract, histopathology Special pathology: respiratory apparatus and its histopathology Special pathology: central nervous systems Special pathology: excretory system, histopathology Special pathology: histopathology of skin and body surface Recommended literature: Miřejovský P., Bednář B.
