Course objectives
This subject gives complex knowledge and skill in the technology of wood treatment in the field of furniture conservation-restoration and non- polychromic wood carving.
Learning outcomes
This subject gives complex knowledge and skill in the technology of wood treatment in the field of furniture conservation-restoration and non- polychromic wood carving.
Syllabus
  • Introduction into the problemacy of conservation-restoration
  • Brief historical evolution in restoration of furniture and wood carving
  • Legal norms in the field of restoration practice, monument care and museum management
  • Basic terminology.
  • Ethic principles in activities of a restorer
  • Restoration documentation.
  • Approach of a restorer. Determination of the damage nad state of an object in the moment of its receipt, material survey.
  • Determination of the extent of work activities - conservation, restoration, reconstruction, communication with an owner
  • Design of conservation and restoration, technology and materials.
  • Conservational intervention - specification, the purpose of an activity
  • Cleaning of a surface, drying, rehabiliotation, petrification.
  • Activities preventing further object destruction.
  • Intervention of a restorer, specification, the purpose of an activity.
