Course objectives
At the end of the course, students should be able to perform and routinely apply the following common calculations which are necessary for the basic work in chemical, biochemical and biological laboratory: Mass-to-mass, volume-to-volume and mass-to-volume ratio, molar amount, molar concentration, dilution of solutions, pH calculations of strong acids and bases, pH calculations of weak acids and bases, pH calculations of salt solutions and buffers and their combinations.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to routinely perform the common calculations which are necessary for the basic work in laboratory.

Teaching methods
One lesson of seminar followed by a test after one week. The literature for home studies is well available.
Assessment methods
Requirements to obtain the credit in Autumn 2020: The presence in the introductory online lesson and in the electronic tests is essential. The presence on seminar lessons is strongly recommended. The credit in regular completion date will be given if the student obtains at least 75% of points in all six tests in total. In the case of illness at the date of the test, it will be possible to write the test after the end of the semester. The credit in a rest date will be given if the student obtains at least 75% of points in a reparatory test (knowledge from the whole course will be examined).
