Course objectives
At the end of the course students are supposed to have a general knowledge about polymers and their physical properties as well as their application and technological processing.
Syllabus
  • 1. History and development of polymers. Nomenclature. 2. Structure and chemical properties relationships. 3. Structure and physical (electrical, optical) properties relationships. 4. Polymers additivation (fillers, plastificators, lubricants, stabilizers, colours, etc.) 5. Polyethylene. 6. Polypropylene. Co-polymers, polydienes, polyolefines. 7. Halogen-vinyl polymers: PVC and PTFE, PVAc, polyacrylates, styrene polymers. 8. Polyamides and polyimides. Polyacetales. Polycarbonates. 9. Celulose and derivatives. Phenolplasts, aminoplasts. 10. Polyesters. Epoxide resins. 11. Polyurethanes a polyizocyanurates. 12. Silikones. 13. Inovation
